The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District (District) is seeking highly motivated applicants who desire to actively support our commitment to providing a high level of service to our community.

Under the general direction of the Fire Marshal, assists staff and the public in various aspects of program and service support. This is an unrepresented, non-exempt, and entry-level Community Risk Reduction classification performing administrative support involving routine and repetitive activities.

Examples of Essential Functions:
The following duties are typical for this classification. An employee in this classification may perform all or some of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
• Answer incoming calls for information; take and transmit messages to appropriate individuals

• Enter a variety of information into databases; verify that information is complete

• Sort and file a variety of documents using established guidelines

• Process mail, which may include: assisting with bulk mailings; receiving and distributing mail to appropriate individuals; preparing mailing labels; and/or, performing other related activities

• Provide customer service to walk-in customers; direct customers to appropriate locations

• Assists in locating and retrieving a variety of files, documents, and/or other related information.

• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Knowledge of:
• Customer service principles

• Filing methods

• Modern office procedures

Ability to:
• Provide customer service

• Use computers and applicable software applications

• File a variety of documents

• Typing

• Entering data into a computer

• Processing mail

• Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction


Minimum Qualifications:

Age: Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.   
Experience: Minimum of two years of progressively responsible office administrative experience. Experience in working in a public agency setting is desirable.

Education: Must possess a high school diploma or GED. College degree from an accredited university preferred.

License: Possession of and ability to maintain a current valid California Driver’s License, Class C, is a condition of employment.
