Position Summary
The TRIO-Student Support Services Program Leader develops, provides, and maintains direct retention and graduation services and activities for all program participants in the areas of: academic advising, tutoring, transition to college, financial aid, career, & personal counseling, cultural enrichment and academic success programming. The TRIO-Student Support Services Program Leader reports to the Director of TRIO Programs.

This is a grant funded position with an official end date of 09/01/2025 with expected renewal. Position may be extended or shortened based on funds availability and the needs of the university.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Leadership and motivational skills.
  • Able to effectively utilize Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
  • Understanding of diverse student backgrounds.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree.

Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of experience in higher education in student support, to include student experience in support of said environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with at-risk students, student retention or disability services.
  • Experience with Federal TRIO programs and familiar with current trends in post-secondary retention and graduation strategies.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish.

Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with occasional extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat to retrieve marketing materials weighing up to 10lbs.
  • Ability to push/pull marketing carts holding up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move about campus and event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, and potential/current students, as well as attend meetings on and off campus.
