Staff Accountant

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and enthusiastic accountant to join our team. This role will focus on collaborating with the Controller and management to ensure proper accounting and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of broker-dealer operations, financial rules and regulations, and the ability to navigate reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the accounting team with month-end entries and financial close
- Update and maintain monthly balance sheet schedules and allocations
- Track and record accounts receivables
- Prepare, monitor and analyze firm's net capital computations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Syndicate, Trading, Finance, Compliance) to gather necessary data for reporting
- Assist in regulatory examinations and annual audits
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience within a broker-dealer or financial services firm
- Knowledge and understanding of GAAP
- Knowledge of broker-dealer operations, financial instruments, and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
Skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and other financial reporting tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
We are Committed to Fair Pay. At SWS, we are committed to fair, transparent pay and strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target total fixed compensation range for this position is $95,000 - $125,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will be determined by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience. This position is also eligible for a discretionary bonus.
