Assistant Professor of Ecology 

Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Ecology in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology with a preferred start date of August 1, 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.  

Responsibilities

Scholarship/Research expectations:
We are seeking an Ecologist working at any level of ecological organization, with a robust research background. 

  • Successful candidates will establish an extramurally funded research program addressing important questions in the field of ecology and complimenting existing research programs in our college and department (found at http://csm.kennesaw.edu/research/index.php).  

Teaching expectations:

  • Teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level is expected, with an emphasis on active and experiential learning. Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
  • Advising and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students is expected.
     

Service expectations:

  • Participation in professional service within the Department, the College of Science and Mathematics, the University and beyond is expected.

Required Qualifications Include

  • An earned doctorate, or its foreign equivalent, in ecology, biology or a closely related discipline
  • A record of peer-reviewed publications (or accepted manuscripts)

Preferred Qualifications Include

  • Postdoctoral experience 
  • Success in obtaining extramural funding
  • Record of teaching at the university level and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
  • Candidates working on questions relevant to the Southern US and Georgia as well as candidates who can develop a collaborative and innovative research program that complements the Department's current expertise are particularly encouraged to apply.
